Search and Seizure Law

This course will break down the voluminous and complex legal rulings pertaining to Fourth Amendment seizures. In particular, this course will discuss the ever-changing landscape of when a search warrant is required. This is crucial as the advent of new electronic forms of surveillance is resulting in a web of potentially conflicting determinations as to when the Fourth Amendment is implicated. Topics discussed in this course will include the use of GPS technology, electronic surveillance, and when exigent circumstances apply to the search of electrical equipment.
