Since Michigan’s Medical Marijuana Act was passed in 2008, employers have questioned whether the Act creates any protections for employees based on their use of medical marijuana. Given that Michigan’s courts are still trying to determine the scope of the Act, employers cannot possibly make decisions regarding application of the Act in the workplace on their own. This course covers all of Michigan’s trial and appellate court decisions regarding the Act’s application in and out of the workplace. Does the Act create another protected employment class?
