This course will break down the voluminous and complex regulations that employers must follow in determining an employee’s entitlement to leave under the Family Medical Leave Act. In particular, this course will guide employers in calculating the amount of an employee’s leave time utilized, the calculation of employees’ benefit years, how to calculate intermittent leave time, whether an employee is entitled to leave time and issues involving continuing care necessitating leave. This course also discusses how the FMLA and ADA conflict with respect to leave time and awarding additional extended leave as a reasonable accommodation.
